Question
QUESTION: I need to import/convert old MS Word docs into InDesign CS2 on a MacBook Pro for a project.  What problems am I looking at?  I have also available MS Office: mac 2008.  Should I convert old docs into MS Office: mac 2008 first or just jump the 2003 word docs into CS2 InDesign on my mac?

ANSWER: There should be no problem at all placing ms word 2003 files into ID cs2. Just go file > place and choose the files and they will be placed without a problem. The only problem that you might have is if you had to place office 2007/08 word files into cs2.

QUESTION: Without being negative...is using MS Office: MAC2008 a problem for importing into CS2 or were you referring to Windows Office 2008 being a problem?

Answer
Both Mac2008 and Windows 2007 use a new format called docx which does not work with cs2. If you have a docx file you need to save it out of office as a normal doc file and then you will be able to use it. Office 2003 and earlier use the doc file extension and there are not problems with it in cs2. CS3 supports docx and there are no issues with it.
