Adobe InDesign/Sharing InDesign Files

Question
I have several InDesign files that I have to send to a colleague who is a print broker. I got lucky and was awarded the design work while she got the printing. The print broker is insisting that I share all the linked files (for comparison to the pdf's and the proofs prior to printing). I keep insisting that the pdf file alone is good especially since the printer will generate proofs prior to going to press. I suspect that my colleague wants the files so if the client requires any changes, she'll get to do the work instead of me. Can I lock my raw ID files or provide proof that either a pdf, eps, etc. are sufficient for accurate production? Any help would be greatly appreciated I'd like to protect my design work. Thanks in advance!

Answer
While I understand your concern, and please keep in mind that I don't really know what type of people your dealing with, it is a very smart idea to give all the files over to the printer, especially if it's a big file. It's much easier for someone with the file and the printer to fix a file then having to find you. There are so many things that could happen to a PDF - things that you don't see when you send it off. And being a person who has only sent pdfs over to the printer with out the raw files - it sucks and the client gets pissed off.

That being said, you might want to CC your boss on all of this. That way, someone else knows what's going on.
