Adobe InDesign/InDesign scaling text box

Question
Hi, I'm using InDesign 2.0.2 and I'm wanting to scale the text box proportionally
with the arrow tool (as you can in Quark). Is it possible to change size without
selecting manually with the text tool?

Answer
Hi Katherine,

In the type preferences (Preferences->Type) check "Adjust Type Attributes while Scaling"

Select the text box you want to scale with the Direct Select tool (black arrow),

While holding down the alt and shift keys (pc) or command and shift keys (mac),

Drag one of the box handles either at the corner or sides.

That will scale the text proportionately.

By holding just the alt (pc) or command (mac) the text will "stretch" in the direction you drag.

Thanks,
