Adobe InDesign/values in ribbon chnage selected text

Question
Hi,  I'm having a problem with ID (5.0.3 in this case) not allow indent, font size etc values to be typed in the ribbon. It will revert the values or change the selected text in the document rather than changing the values.

Have you seen this before?

Thanks

Nick

Answer
Nick,

I assume by ribon, you are referring to the control panel at the top of the screen.

In regards to your problem with type sizes/formating not sticking, I have a few options/questions.

1. Are you using InDesign in an InCopy workflow? If so, the story might be checked out and preventing you from making changes to the document. If you have no idea what I am talking about, then please disregard this comment.

2. Try resetting your preferences. On a Mac, quit ID, then hold down Cmd+Opt+Ctrl+Shift while ID lanches. On a PC, just hold down Crl+Alt+Shift while it launches.

3. Test to see if this is happening in only this document or all documents. Also take the file to another machine with ID and see if it happens on that machine too.
