Adobe InDesign/Dividing space equally

Question
Is there a way to equally divide a given area? Example being that I have an area 8.5" x 11" that I need to split into 12 equal areas. 3 "boxes" horizontally and 4 "boxes" vertically. And can the "boxes" have a 2 pica space in between them?

Answer
Hi Lora,

Yes. What I believe you are trying to do is to create guides that will split your 8.5" x 11" document into 12 grid boxes.

It's simple. Go to Layout > Create Guides. Now create 4 rows and 3 columns with 2p0 gutters. Under Options, make sure Fit Guides to Page is selected.

Check the Preview box to see if the result is what you're after. If you have a multi-page document that needs this grid, make sure to apply this guide setting in your Master Page.

Hope this helps!
