Adobe InDesign/Embedding ai files to flow with text in InDesign CS3

Question
Hi there,

I'm working on some collateral and need to embedd Illustrator widget icons for one of our products next to subheads and copy explaining what the widget does.

Since the text is likely to be edited, how do I attach the icons to the subheads so they will flow with it no matter how text is changed? I know I've done this before, but it's been a while. I recall having issues with the space around the embedded ai files -- it was never even. I could not figure out if it was because of space before or after the paragraph style or another reason. I think I fudged it for the final to make it look good, then forgot about it.

I have to have these files localized in 10 languages and am hoping embedding icons makes my life easier when I have to do style reviews.

Thanks for the help!
Anne

Answer
Anne, you have two options.

1. Just put your text cursor into the body copy where you want the picture to be. Next choose file > place and your image will become an inline graphic and will flow with the copy.

2. Put your cursor where you want the image to be. Go to object > insert anchored object. Now you can put an image into the new anchored object frame and it will flow with the copy to the spot it in anchored.
