Adobe InDesign/Indesign CS2 vs PageMaker 7
Expert: Candice Anderson - 9/19/2008
QuestionHi,
I'm currently using PageMaker but really seriously thinking of upgrading to InDesign CS2.
I've looked at some screenshots of InDesign and they looked intimidating. Can you tell me what the main difference between ID CS2 and PM7?
The way I understand it is that ID CS2 has some functions like of Photoshop (I'm familiar with PS) like editing photos, gradients, etc.
Hope you weren't confused with my questions :-) and thanks.
AnswerHi,
The bottom line is that PageMaker is no longer the standard of most printers and graphic artists. So, ya, you are going to need to change soon. And I'd just go ahead and go to CS3.
There are some major differneces between PM and ID. But, if you know photoshop, the changes are easy to learn. They will just take a couple of tries. You'll also find that the things you wish you had in PM, you have in ID. For example, they have this amazing option that enables you to package all your files in one click, as opposed to finding all of your files when are ready for print.
so, ya, lots of changes, but you won't to get a book, unless you really want to :)
