Adobe InDesign/CS4 document moving problem

Question
I work with a team of designers and we've all just purchased CS4. We are all experiencing the following problem: When we move a floating InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop document too close to the top of the screen, the top of the document moves under the control panel at the top and we can't get it out again without closing and reopening the document. Anyone else experiencing this problem? And if so, is there any other way of moving the document around the screen without having to grab the top of the document?

Answer
Hey Leah, thanks for the question.

Not sure if you're on a Mac, but the following answers will help if you are. I haven't used InDesign on a PC since InDesign 1.5 so I'm not sure if it behaves the same way.

Quick tip: Anytime you press Tab you temporarily hide all of InDesign's panels (including the Control panel) and can grab the document window and move it wherever you'd like. (As long as you don't have your Type tool active in a text box.)

Another easy answer: Under the Window menu, choose Arrange > Cascade and it will fit your document window into the space within your panels. If you have more than one document open, it will cascade them so you can still see their title bar.

Hope this helps, enjoy your upgrade!

Experience

After starting my design career using QuarkXPress and PageMaker for many years, the release of InDesign instantly caught my eye. Being one of the reasons for Adobe buying Aldus, I knew this would change the publishing world very quickly. I started using InDesign's first release and haven't looked back. I have dedicated my work and much of my spare time using InDesign to its fullest—and it's paid off. My workflow is quicker, my computer runs smoother, and my files print cleaner and without problem.
