How to merge 2 indesign Files

1 file is there in 20 pages and another file is there in 30 pages

i want one indd file

The simplest way to do this is to open both documents.
Go to the Window menu
Choose Arrange --> Tile
Which will put both documents side by side.

Click on the File that you want to move pages from and open your pages palette. Select the pages you want to move, and drag them into the document where you want them to be placed.

That's it!

MY QUESTION

How do you open two InDesign files at the same time? When one is open an you open another, it overrides the first file. Clicking on Arrange -- Tile only deals with the last file opened. What am I missing in accomplishing this process of making two indd files into one indd file?

Hi Del,

Being a Mac user, we've always had the capability to open multiple files in multiple windows. I've had multiple files open in Windows 2000 and XP.
Try manually making the File window smaller inside the application window and then open a second document and make it's window smaller and rearrange them inside the application window.
You can even open two documents at the same time, but the default arrangement is cascade. You should still be able to resize the files - just click on the title bar of the file you want to work on.
