Adobe InDesign/margin guides disappeared

Question
Hi James, my margin guides have disappeared and they don't appear when I press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Y. However, if I open a new document it works fine. I saw a similar post on this website by someone else and another InDesign Pro replied to this (who is now on holiday) however his response did not work for me. I was wondering if you would now why this document suddenly stopped showing the margin lines as it did work earlier this morning before we did extensive changes to it. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Gwen,

Pressing Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Y switches to overprint preview and doesn't have much to do with your guides/margins missing.

Here are a couple things to look into.

Are you in preview mode? Check by going to view menu > screen mode > normal

Did you hide your guides? Ctrl+; will toggle visibility of your guides.

Finally, did you apply a masterpage with no margins at all? If so, that would mean you can't see any since you don't have any guides.

I hope one of these options work for you.
