Adobe InDesign - Helping to print magazine for InDesign
Expert: Glen Demers - 11/4/2009
Question QUESTION:
Dear Glen,
I am new to InDesign, but currently designing a small community magazine. What I cannot get round is removing the text that appears at the top of each page "BLA BLA BLA Exero 01 5555"
If you could help me out it would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
All the best,
ANSWER: Hi Joseph,
This text may be on a master page. In the page palette double click on the pages at the very top of the palete and see if one of them has the mystery text on it - and delete it.
Hope this helps,

QUESTION: Hi Glen,
Thanks for the help. I have had difficulty in deleting the text still. I haven't actually created a master page myself, just used the template as it was generated automatically. I'm very new to it so I don't know how I'd go about deleting it from the master page.
All the best,
Joseph
Answer Hi Joseph,
By default, InDesign creates a master page in your document and it remains blank if you don't use it. If your text is appearing on every page you create then it has somehow found it's way to the master page. In your page list the page icons will have a small letter "A" on them to signify that they are copies of "Master A"
With your selection tool, the solid pointer icon, double click on the top of the pages palette in one of the page icons labeled "Master A". Click on the text. When you select it a frame should appear showing the corners and edges of the text box. Hit the delete or backspace key or go to File>Cut to delete it.
If you can select the text box on each individual page, then it is not on a master and you can delete it from each page using the selection tool. If you use the text tool, the I-beam icon, you can triple-click in the text to select it all and delete the text while leaving the text frame for new copy.
Rather than trying to adjust a template, you could build your document from scratch. This will familiarize you with the tools and mechanics of InDesign and allow you to use templates more efficiently in the future. There is an excellent article about starting a new document by Ken Black here: http://is.gd/4NPlm
