Question

Picture 1
I am having trouble with my publisher who claims the inside margin for my book must be 1" on each side of the spine margin (right of left page and left of right page). The ruler at the top shows 30 to 36 and 36 to 42; at 100% a regular ruler measures each side at the required 1". I am sending along a image in case my question is not clear. The question is, is this 1" or not? Thank you for all your past help. Del

Answer
Hi Del,

The rulers look like they are set to picas. You can change this in Preferences>Units and Increments.
There are 6 picas to an inch so the text boxes look to be about an inch from the spine.
Picas are used by many designers because they relate to type sizes easily, there are 12 points in a pica.

Hope this helps,
