Adobe InDesign/page sizes CS4

Question
I have two questions. First,I work on documents that have to change the vertical dimensions constantly. When I used Quark, it would just add or subtract from the bottom of the page. That is preferable for me. InDesign always centers the content vertically if I add inches and the entire page has to be realigned to the top. Any way around this?

Second question; These documents have pages of different lengths. Any way to create a page that measures 12" long and one that measures 24" long in the same document?

Thanks, Russell

Answer
Hi Russell,

Regarding documents that are different sizes within InDesign, that is not currently possible within InDesign. There is a plug-in available from www.dtptools.com called page control which will allow you to create different sizes within the layout.

Regarding the changing size of your InDesign document, you can set the reference point of InDesign in the upper right corner of the control panel, but when you change the size of the vertical document it is ignored. This may be bug because I don't believe it should behave this way. Another option is to turn on layout adjustment (layout menu > layout adjustment). This may help you resize everything when you change the documents sizes. Finally, there is another plug-in you may want to look into called Proscale http://www.gluon.com/product-proscale-id.html which may help you.

I am sorry that I am not providing the answer that you are looking for, but every program has its limits and it looks like you found some of InDesigns limits.
