Adobe InDesign/printing to desktop printer with Indesign

Question
My workplace has approved purchase of CS4 and new hardware (PC and printer) to accommodate it. However the bulk of the work they want me to do is to printed on a desktop printer in the office, not sent to a printer. In the past I have had problems with ID files printing offkilter to the page on the printer, resulting in having to trim edges with a guillotine. I would like to avoid this if possible. Is there a printer that works best with ID files, or hints on how to minimise the 'white space' the printer leaves around edges?

Answer
Hi Kel,

I am not completely familiar with the variety of printers out there, but I belive that HP has a technology called "edge to edge printing" that may be what you are looking for. I have not personally used this printer/technology therefore I do not know how well it will work, but hopefully this is what you are looking for.

Regarding what printer works best with ID, it really is all over the board. I would recommend that you purchase a color laser printing with a lot of memory. Other than that, I don't really have a specific brand/model to suggest. I am not an expert in printer models. Maybe you should contact a local printer reseller for better advice since they will up to date on the latest models and can recommend a printer for your particular situation.
