Adobe InDesign/Adobe InDesign CS3

Question
I am running Adobe InDesign CS3 at work. When I go to open a file through InDesign, my Customer List is not in alphabetical order - it seems to order the files according to when the files were last opened - in other words the most recent file I worked on is at the very end. This only happens on one machine and is very annoying. Hope you can help.

Answer
Hi Doreen,

InDesign uses it's own dialog box or the system's dialog box. To use the Adobe dialog box go to File>Open and at the bottom left of the dialog box click on Use Adobe Dialog. In the Adobe dialog you can select a column heading to order the files in the window - Name, Status, Date Modified etc. Click on Name to order the files alphabetically, click Name again to reverse the order.

If you are using Adobe Dialog then the button on the bottom of the window says Use OS Dialog. If you are using the OS Dialog then the order depends on your window settings in your particular operating system.

Hope this helps,

Happy holidays,
