Adobe InDesign/Embedding Fonts in a JPG document
Expert: Roy Wilhelm - 12/3/2009
QuestionHi!
I am in the process of learning InDesign CS4 - and have completed a few ads for a client. I just saw one in print - and noticed that one of my fonts changed with the printer. I sent them a JPG as a file.
Is there a way to embed my fonts into the JPG document? Or - should I send the file as a PDF?
I am not sure what software they are using to assemble these types of programs (high school basketball games)...
Would love your thoughts!
Many thanks!
AnswerHi Kathy,
I'm a bit confused. A JPG is a rasterized image file. When you create a JPG, fonts no longer have their postscript file information with them. Is it possible that the font changed before you created the JPG? Are you sure you sent them an image.jpg file?
For best practices, I'd talk to the printer. In my experience, they prefer PDF, EPS and TIFF files. But if you're sending unflattened TIFF files, be sure to include the fonts with the package of files.
