Adobe InDesign/deleting text

Question
I am working on a newsletter and I need to delete text on my master page, but I'm unable to select the text and delete it.  Help!

Answer
Hi Lindsey,

Ok, one of two things is happening:

1. The layer on which the text resides has been locked. Verify that the layer is unlocked.

2. You are attempting to edit the text on a regular page and not on the actual master page. To edit text that originates on a master page, double click the master page in the Pages palette. Then edit your text. Alternatively, you can release and activate Master page objects on regular pages by holding SHIFT + Control (or command) and clicking the object. Keep in mind that when you release an object from the Master page, any edits you make on the Master will no longer appear on the page where the object was released.

Hope this helps!
