Adobe InDesign/InDesign created PDF files

QuestionCandice,
I also forgot to tell you we are MAC based working with Quark Express. I can create PDF files in Quark - up to 80-95 ades per issue and export ALL of my created files with no problems. It's all the other files I get from different clients that crates headaches. HELP! I've been a graphic artist with this newspaper for 35 years and I've never encountered a problem such as this!
AnswerLet me make sure I have this right - You are printing from Quark Express. You want to save everything as an .eps when it's time to print. But you keep getting postscript errors, when others send you art, yes? The result is that you then have to save everything as a .tiff?
I will first admit that I have very little experience in Newspaper, which is a completely different monster from poster printing, but here's my hypothesis based on my college newspapers year.
There's really not much you can do...You are using Quark and until you switch to Indesign, you'll have to do what you are doing. The problem, my guess, is that when the weather guys are sending you their files, they are making them in Illustrator...with filters and what not that Quark doesn't support. Quark, as you well know, if finicky to begin with. When you try to bring in objects that were made in Adobe, except .jpgs and .tiffs, Quark doesn't understand.
What are you files, where are you making them?
