Adobe InDesign/Saving to JPG

Question
Good day,

I have not worked with Adobe InDesign. I have a friend who knows less than I and he has a picture he developed with InDesign that we need to transfer to a jpg. file.

Can you point me in the direction of where I can find these step-by-step instructions?

Thanks,

Matthew

Answer
Hi Matthew, thanks for the question.

It's fairly simple to get a JPG out of InDesign once you know where to find it. In InDesign you can't actually Save as a JPG, you have to Export as a JPG. You'll find the Export command under the File menu. When you first export, the default is PDF. Simply choose JPG from the Format drop-down menu and click Save. Another dialog box will open and depending on the version of InDesign you're using, you may or may not be able to choose the resolution.

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Thanks.

Scott

Experience

After starting my design career using QuarkXPress and PageMaker for many years, the release of InDesign instantly caught my eye. Being one of the reasons for Adobe buying Aldus, I knew this would change the publishing world very quickly. I started using InDesign's first release and haven't looked back. I have dedicated my work and much of my spare time using InDesign to its fullest—and it's paid off. My workflow is quicker, my computer runs smoother, and my files print cleaner and without problem.
