Sometimes when I have the text tool selected and I actually clicked on a body of text and I'm moving the arrows keys to the left or right over the text I can see the X value change in the Info palette. But sometimes it doesn't work. I use it to get a value for making a tab.

Hi Sandy,

I don't understand why it wouldn't work unless you've inadvertently clicked into a non text frame, or have created a new text frame with no text in it instead of being in your intended text box. Try command or control A to select all and make sure you are in the right text box.
