Adobe InDesign/How do I copy from InDesign [ Mac OS] ?

Question
QUESTION: When I select items (multiple items, pics & text boxes)
from InDesign, and 'copy',
then go to my other app (Multi-ad Creator)
and 'paste', nothing happens?

I want the whole layout, and it's formatting if I can?

Please help,
:-b

ANSWER: Hi Bill, I'm sorry, but I'm unfamiliar with Multi-ad Creator. InDesign is a Postscript-based page-layout program and therefore, if Multi-ad Creator doesn't support Postscript, it wouldn't know how to translate the pasteboard information.

Thanks for the question. If you decide to keep your layout in InDesign and have any questions, please let us know.

QUESTION: InDesign copies postscript.
Can I paste postscript somewhere or anywhere else?
[Mac OS]

Is there a scrapboard or clipboard utility
that might be helpful in this case?
... a commonly used Mac Application?
eg. Textedit? Acrobat Professional?

Answer
Anytime you cut and paste individual objects or groupings of objects from one program to another, you will get unexpected results––so I don't recommend it. However, there are many ways to get editable text, linked objects and shapes out of InDesign for use in other programs.

Not knowing what the objects on your page are, I would suggest the following: Export any text as Rich Text and reimport it. If you have linked pictures or graphics, just import them since they exist outside of InDesign already. And anything left on the page (coloured boxes, embedded graphics, outlined text, etc.), can be exported as an EPS and imported (if supported) into another program.

Hope these tips help, Bill. If you have any more specific questions, please follow-up again.

Experience

After starting my design career using QuarkXPress and PageMaker for many years, the release of InDesign instantly caught my eye. Being one of the reasons for Adobe buying Aldus, I knew this would change the publishing world very quickly. I started using InDesign's first release and haven't looked back. I have dedicated my work and much of my spare time using InDesign to its fullest—and it's paid off. My workflow is quicker, my computer runs smoother, and my files print cleaner and without problem.
