Adobe InDesign/working with scanned images and separations in Indesign CS

Question
I have this form that I had to recreate and the logo they gave me was
corrupted so I had to scan in a image of the logo.  Its a two color form, green
text with the green logo, and then some black text. So I needed to create two
separations for press a green page and black page. The problem when I tried
to scan in the image and create a seperation, the logo didn't go on the
correct color page.

My question is what is the procedure for scanning in images when you need
to do separations? Do you need to recreate that logo in vector format with the
spot color in order for it to separate onto the correct page? I don't get it but
would love to understand what I REALLY need to do to make this work.

Answer
Hi Carmen,

Sorry about the delay in getting you an answer.

After you create your scan, convert the image to grayscale and save it as a .tif. You may need to make some adjustments depending on what the original colors are and what you want it to look like.

Import the new grayscale tif into Indesign, and select it with the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow). With the image selected, fill it with the spot color you want it to print. You have now colorized it and it will now print in the spot color you chose.

Thanks,
