Question
Hi,

I'm trying to open a file in indesign CS3 Version 5.0 that was created in indesign CS3 Version 3.0.1 and it doesn't seem to work. Is it possible to do this? Also I have tried saving the file as an interchange file but with no luck. Would updating the plug ins work? Please help!

Answer
Hi Kate,

An InDesign CS3 file can easily open another CS3 file, but I believe that you might have your versions confused.

InDesign CS = 3.0
InDesign CS2 = 4.0
InDesign CS3 = 5.0

Therefore if you are trying to open a CS3 (5.0) file with CS3 (3.0) you will run into the problem that you are having.

It is impossible for 3.0 to open a 5.0 file directly. You need to save the 5.0 file as an interchange and then open it in 4.0 (CS2) and then save as a new interchange file, and then 3.0 can open it.

I hope that helps
