Adobe InDesign/Fonts InDesign

Question
Hi Ken, I am working in InDesign CS2 on a Mac OS X. Over a year ago, I added fonts into my font book and used these fonts since that time. I also used them in Illustrator. For some reason, I am now getting an error for half of these fonts. The error is "You might not be able to print with "FrizQuadrata" or stroke its characters because the font's outline file is missing. What do I need to do? Unfortunately, I can't find the disk that had these fonts. Please help!!

Thanks,
Shelly

Answer
Hi Shelly,

Unfortunately, Font Book seems to have lost or has caused the fonts to become corrupt. This can happen when you have a lot of fonts loaded in your system when using Font Book. I'm afraid you will need to replace the font in your system.

It is often best to use an independent font managing program for your fonts. These programs allow you to turn fonts on or off when needed. Font Book tends to keep all the fonts on in your system all the time which can cause the resource fork of the font to become corrupt.

See our website for more in-depth information on font management at

There is also info for the pc as well.

Thanks,
