Adobe InDesign/color palette and other

Question
Candice, The color palette drives me crazy! Every time I need to make a new color in CMYK, I have to select the drop down.  How can you make the palette always stay open in CMYK? Also, when I create a document and set margins up front, if I need to adjust those later in the design process, I have to select every spread and re-do the margin specs spread by spread. How can you adjust the margins/columns specs globally? Next is there someway to create a command key that makes your cursor a selection tool instead of the "v" key? I'm constantly messing this function up and winding up with "v"s in my text. InDesign is so great but things like this drive me mad!!

Answer
How can you make the palette always stay open in CMYK? : I have no idea, neither does google. It's supposed to be the dafault. So, the only thing I can figure is that you changed something in your settings and you need to reset...sorry.

How can you adjust the margins/columns specs globally? Bottom of your screen you will see your page number, click the drop down menu next to it. Go to master, make your margins on both pages. These are your master margins.

Next is there someway to create a command key that makes your cursor a selection tool instead of the "v" key? Press A.
