Question
I am using style mapping to import Word styles into InDesign CS3 but all the style sheets now show the plus symbol indicating extra formatting. My files are 24 pages long and I don't want to option click each style sheet. Also I need to keep my character styles as various bolding and italicizing has been applied throughout the document. Please help.

Answer
Tracey,

Sorry for the delay, but I didn't get a chance to answer you question until after work today.

Regarding your question about local formatting from Word, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that InDesign can not directly do what you are trying to accomplish
The good news is that you can reach a desirable result by using a free script. Here is a link to the script and a tutorial explaining how to use it.
