Adobe InDesign/InDesign Toolbar Options

Question
Hello Glen,

I recently updated to the CS4 package and am getting acquainted with all the new upgrades in each software. Concerning the toolbar in InDesign, where are the icon tools which allow for anchoring text to the top, bottom or floating in the middle? I don't see that option on mine. Also, is there a way to customize the toolbar for use of only tools that I need and hiding ones I rarely use. Or maybe arranging them more to the right side and out of the way?

Thanks,
Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Make sure you have the direct selection tool (open cursor) and go to Window>Workspace>Advanced.
This will be a workspace with all the tool icons and all menu items showing and the text anchoring icons will be there although they look a little different.

To customize your own space go to Window>Workspace>New Workspace... InDesign makes a copy of the current workspace that you can name. Go to the far right of the toolbar and click on the flyout menu and select customize. I don't think you can rearrange the toolbar but you can turn on and off features that you don't use. The icons for anchoring text in a text box are located at Object>Vertical Justification.

Hope this helps,
