Adobe InDesign/conversion of files to mac

Question
I currently use CS3 for PC and want to change to MAC.  Will my indd files automatically transfer over, or do I have to start from scratch.

Answer
Marci,

.indd files will transfer without any problem between mac and pc. The issues that you need to be aware of are version of the .indd file and fonts.

Versions of .indd
If you are using CS3 you can open it in any CS3 or never version of InDesign (ex- CS4)
But if you are going to use CS2 you will have to export it as an .inx file from the file > export menu.

Fonts
Opentype fonts are recommended since they are crossplatform (work on both mac and PC). If you are using Postscript (looks like a lowercase red a in the font menu) or Truetype (looks like a blue TT a in the font menu) then you will not be able to use those fonts on other machine.
