Adobe InDesign/Text changes color when printing

Question
I have a  text title in red that when printed directly from indesign changes to black but when the file is converted to a pdf and printed the text prints in red as it should. Any suggestions or a reason why this happens?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Hi Kim,

The only thing I can think of to make this happen would be if you're printing to a black and white printer out of Indesign or the Text As Black option is checked.

Make sure the printer driver you're using supports color. In the print dialog box make sure you've selected Composite Leave Unchanged, Composite RGB or Composite CMYK and make sure Text As Black is unchecked.

Hope this helps,
