Question
I am working on formatting a script in indesign and am looking to make sure that once the speakers name is listed, none of their text goes underneath their name.  So I"m looking for some sort of indent.  Is their a way to do this in indesign?  I want it to look like this..

Answer

Set Tabs Indesign
Sorry Aimee, I have been trying to answer your question for several days, but due to some unknown computer issues I could not.

I have attached a screen shot that demonstrates setting Tabs.

When typing your script, insert a Tab space after your name and at the beginning of each new paragraph line.

To set the tab space, open the tab palette under the Type menu.

Click on the first tab stop button in the top left corner of the palette, this sets a left aligned tab when you click in the ruler at the bottom of the tab palette.

If you click and hold you will notice a line appear in your text window, this shows where your tab stops will align for all of the first tabs set in a paragraph line.

Set your stop as needed and as you continue typing and inserting tabs after the name and at the beginning of each line, the text should all align.

Thanks,
