Question
Hello Glen,
I’m designing a 12-page brochure in InDesign CS4. It is a side-step with graduated pages; the height is 10.5 inches throughout, and the page widths are as follows: pp 1/2 = 5”w; pp 3/4 = 4.4375”w; pp 5/6 = 4.625”w; pp 7/8 = 4.8056”w; pp 9/10 and 11/12 are 5”w.

The printer asked me to build the pages to size, then they’ll impose them for me. What would be the best way to approach this?
Can I set up one InD file with all of the varying page widths?

Answer
Hi Elaine,

You cannot make different page sizes in InDesign. You will have to set up 4 different documents. You can then save them as a book. Choose File > New > Book. Type a name for the book, specify a location, and then click Save. The Book panel appears. The book file is saved with the file name extension .indb. Add documents to the book file.

Hope this helps,
