Adobe InDesign/Missing Links and Locked File

Question
First, when I open an InDesign Brochure I created, it says I have 19 missing links.  All of the missing links are text boxes and the text is there.
Second, when I try to edit the text in one of the text boxes, it says Unable to check out this file.  It may be in use by someone else.  Ideas/help?

Answer
Hi,

When the document was created, how was the text placed? What was the source of the text? Whatever it was, it sounds like it is in some format that doesn't allow direct editing in InDesign. Did you for example export the file as an inx file and then re-open it? Or are you using InCopy?

Hope that helps /...
