Adobe InDesign/Books VS Documents and Master Pages

Question
Hi!

Can I create master pages for applying to a book?  If all the chapters are documents and added into a book can I intentionally or accidently override the original masterpage items?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi,
Click on the flyout menu in the Book palette and choose Synchronise Options .... There you will see a checkbox for Master Pages, which is usually not selected by default. If you want to synch the master pages, first make sure that the appropriate document is selected as the Style Source by clicking in the checkbox next to that document in the Book palette. Then select the documents that you want to synchronise, and choose Synchronise Selected Documents from the flyout menu.

You can also load master pages into an individual document:
Go to the Master Pages
Click on the flyout menu
Choose Load Master Pages

Always make sure that you have a backup of your documents before doing this, as it is sometimes a bit flakey!
