Adobe InDesign/Best file formats for Importing artwork from Illustrator 11?

Question
Are the native AI file the way to go when importing into InDesign CS?  We are currently saving illustrator files as EPS and then placing them within Indesign.  Many illustrations have transparencies and blurs that have caused some issues in the past during the RIP process at the print vendor.  I think we got in the habit of saving everything as EPS when working with Quark.  Any tips on the pros and cons of using either file type?

Answer
hey there,

both are actully fine.  the wonderful and great thing about In Design is that it likes both files.  The only thing you may run into in .eps is that you might get the white square. In just illustrator files, you shouldn't get that.  However, by playing with the clipping paths in Indesign, you can get rid of it.

Beware: the files in Indesign will look dark and ugly.  Don't be afraid of this.  They will be ok.

Another way to work is .pdf. This is my favorite way to import from Illustartor.
