Adobe InDesign/Linking vs. Importing Pictures

Question
Hi there,

In InDesign, is there a way to import a file rather than linking to it? I have an image I want to use in the header of my indesign document, but I don't want to have that image linked to its location on my hard drive, I'd much rather just drop that image straight into the document and leave it in there. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

Answer
hey there,

nope, Indesign is layout program and only links files.

However, you can always export as a .pdf or package your files.

Packaging will put all of your files in one folder,  go to file, package and follow the directions.

if you're ready for print, you can export as a .pdf.  This will flatten all of your images and give you options for printing, such as cropping and what not.  Just make sure you set it for print in the menu bar on top. You will then not need your files anymore.  However, I would keep them somehwere for if you need to make a change, you have to go back to the indesign file.

hope this helps ;)
