Adobe InDesign/PDF hairlines
Expert: Candice Anderson - 12/12/2007
QuestionHi Candice,
I'm wondering if you can expand on a Q&A from October re PDF hairlines. I
often have hairlines in PDF documents (from Indesign) which I am sending to
print.
Although the hairlines don't seem to show up in the printed document,
recently a couple did so.
Am I saving or distilling to PDF incorrectly, and is there a way to avoid the
hairlines appearing (and printing).
Thanks and regards,
Kristi
Answerhey Kristi,
The best solution is to save down when you save a .pdf. The reason why those lines show up, so I think, is because whenever you cross platforms and/or go from differnt versions of Readers, these lines appear on screen - but usually not on print. I wonder if this is a bug going around, for I've never heard of this problem till the October question.
The other thing it would be, is if you have any transparencies or shadows made in Indesign. Acrobat still has problems with this. So, try to do all that stuff in Photoshop.
So, yes -
Save to a lower version when saving to .pdf
try to stay in the same platform
and always give your packaged file instead/in addition to.
