Adobe InDesign/Trapping text over graphics w/white backgrounds
Expert: Candice Anderson - 5/2/2006
QuestionHi! I'm using Adobe InDesign CS2 on a Mac.
When I import a graphic with a white or transparent background,
and I want the text to wrap around it, everything works
beautifully if I use black text. If I change the text to a color,
InDesign wants to trap the text that is on top of the white
background. This becomes a problem when I have a lengthy
story, and I want graphics interspersed throughout the story.
The colored text near the graphics is a little bolder than the rest
of the story. This happens even when I use transparent gifs or
import right from Photoshop.
Can I turn off the trapping for those lines only? I don't want to
turn off trapping for that ink throughout the whole newsletter.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Answerhey there,
I honestly don't see the problem that you are having. Maybe its because I'm a PC? Either way, heres what you do :)
1. get you preset menu up. thats under
Window
Output
trap presets.
highlight what you want to not have the same default trap and make a new preset. double click on that preset. on the bottom, there is a box that says trap objects to images. unclick that.
hope this works. Honestly, ive never really had to use this, so this answer comes from finagling with the program for a few minutes :)
