Question
QUESTION: Hello Glen
I would like to trace and remove faces from photographs that people send me. I then cast them into silver. I use corel draw x-3 with an eraser tool. The process takes a long time. Is there a better program to achieve this task? I use windows XL. Which program whould I purchase?
Thanks, Tom

ANSWER: Hi Tom,

With Photoshop there are many tools to quickly isolate a face and then remove it, you can use paths or transparent masks, you can export the paths to Illustrator. There are many questions addressing masking in this forum and others as well as lots of tutorials dealing with masking hair, glasses, etc on the web.
I have no experience with Corel but I know the Adobe creative suite contains many professional image editing and drawing tools.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: Thanks of the quick response. Do you think I should purchase photoshop 7?
Thanks, Tom

Answer
Hi Tom,

Sorry for the long time, but I thought I had already answered this!
Hopefully I did and this is just a glitch.

Yes, I think Photoshop is a wise investment for anyone wanting to manipulate images professionally. Elements is great for home use but the full versions of Photoshop from 7 on have the extract filter suite which is indispensable for masking images.

Hope this helps,
