Question
I edited some JPEG images and saved them.  When I tried to open them I got the following message:
COULD NOT COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM PARSING THE JPEG DATA.
The images would not open.  HELP!

Answer
Hi Bruce,

Your file is corrupted. This happened for one of two reasons, either your app crashed while saving which means there is an unexpected end of file, or the file corrupted while saving.

I have had students run into this issue when they saved because they changed the extension (.jpg) by hand and had not actually changed the file format. This causes PS to choke when it tries to open the files because it may not be a real jpg file but a tif or psd, but the extension is telling it to open as a jpg.

Double check your original files and see what format they were in and what you may have saved them as. Unfortunately if you overwrote your original files, the only thing you can try to do is open through PS and in the open window change the format of the file to something else other than jpg.

Thanks

Kevin
