Question
QUESTION: When using my feathered brush at 30 percent I'm finding that it leaves, what I can only describe as ,a hard watermark type edge.  This is also happening with my feathered Eraser.  I have tried tampering with many of the settings and still have found no answer.

ANSWER: Hi Jill,

What you are describing is, I think, rasterized artifacts. If your resolution is set too low (150dpi or less) the effect is a very poor quality. Try doing this on a high resolution document (300 dpi).

Thanks

Kevin

QUESTION: I am using high resolution and have a top of the line monitor...could there be any other reason for this occurrence?  I have also heard that reinstalling the application may work as well, is this true?

Answer
Hi Jill,

I created my brush with the 30% hardness and it seems to be ok. I thought perhaps it was a bad setting.

Im not really sure what reinstalling your application will do.

You can try resetting it first. When you start up PS, immediately hold down Alt + Ctrl + Shift (PC) or Command + Option + Shift (Mac). This will restore factory settings to your app.

If you still have issues, you can try reinstalling, but be aware that any presets or swatches you saved out may be overwritten.
