Adobe Photoshop/expanded selection from elip tool

Question
I'm still using ps7 on a windows xp. I am trying to create a "chrome" ring around an elip shaped logo. I wanted it to be exactly the same as the logo, so I selected the logo and used "expand" on the selection. The expanded oval looks flat on the sides (the original logo doesn't) and when I apply filters for the "chrome" effect, it makes the sides looked distorted. I've used this same process on a circle and had no problems, but I can't figure this one out. Any help is appreciated.

Answer
Mi Marcus - one solution is to draw your ellipse on a new, blank layer, fill it with a solid color, then use the transform tool to scale it up. That will keep the proportions (hold down Shift+Alt/Opt while resizing to scale and keep centered).

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions.
