Adobe Photoshop/Fill text with Image from background

Question
Hi there, I'm using Adobe Photoshop v8. I'm trying to create a children's invitation where the text is hollow so that I can fill with images of the birthday boy, while the background is a totally independant image.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rami

Answer
Hi Rami,

What you are asking about is called "masking", though specifically, you will want to "clip" your image to your text. Here is a tutorial I wrote about masking. Exactly what you need is on page 3, but you should read through the rest of the article, too:

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Be sure to wish a "Happy Birthday" to the birthday boy from everyone at AllExperts :)
