Subject: Text In Photoshop
Question Hi Dan,
Thanks for taking time to answer my question. I'm trying to make simple web graphics with text (308x35 pixels for example) and the text quality looks really poor. What parameters would you recommend for creating a text button in Photoshop? Resolution, Font, Font Size, Image Size, Canvas Size, etc? Or should I not be using photoshop to type onto my graphics? Thanks for any ideas/suggestions you can offer.
Answer Hi Rob,
You are probably not doing it right. Try different Anti-Alias settings, they are found at the bottom of the Text Palette. For very small text try "None", "Sharp" or "Crisp", for large text "Smooth" seems to work best, and for very thin text "Strong".
Also try "Save For Web" instead of Save or Save As. Most of the time for buttons I save them as GIF, but not always. You just need to try different settings until you get the right one (you know it's right when it looks good).
Dan
