Adobe Photoshop/Text In Photoshop
Expert: Huma Riaz - 4/24/2008
QuestionHi Huma,
Thanks for taking time to answer my question. I'm trying to make simple web graphics with text (308x35 pixels for example) and the text quality looks really poor. What parameters would you recommend for creating a text button in Photoshop? Resolution, Font, Font Size, Image Size, Canvas Size, etc? Or should I not be using photoshop to type onto my graphics? Thanks for any ideas/suggestions you can offer.
Answer2 things you can try:
1. Don’t write in PS until you really have to use a different font from system (for instance to use for a heading)
Whatever the size is, the resolution for web graphics will be 72DPI, so just concentrate on what you are getting on screen on 100% view.
2. when using the font in PS, use the NONE Anti-alias for font (check text options window bottom for that) use system fonts such as, Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Times new Roman, Courier, since the user can only have the common system fonts available on any platform (such as Mac, PC, and on different Operating system etc) so we should use the fonts that the user would have them on his machine.
If you have to use any other font, make it in PS, but its not a very good idea to write text in PS, unless it is important.
If my answer is not clear to you, please do not hesitate to ask,
