Question
QUESTION: Hi. Realize that you stated Photoshop 8.0, but just had a basic question. Do you know if Adobe Photoshop 7.0 will run on Vista? I own 7.0 for my MAC, but just purchased a Laptop that uses Vista. Wondered if it's worth buying 7.0 for this computer. There are decent deals on ebay. Thank you for your help. - Michelle

ANSWER: Hi Michelle,

7.0 will not run on Vista, or I should say, won't run well at all. Yes you can install 7 on a Vista PC, you will have to buy a used version, which is sketchy at best, and Adobe stopped supporting 7 several years ago.

You should seriously consider looking into a newer version. CS3 was built for Vista and has many more features that 7. You'd be amazed.

Thanks

Kevin

QUESTION: Thank you. Would you recommend 8.0? Neglected to mention that we have two little boys with special needs (both on Autism Spectrum), so budget is important. Photoshop is one of the programs I use to make visual aids for my older boy. Right now, I'm running 7 on my desktop, but it's about the only reason I still use the desktop. Would like to have a version on my laptop so I'm working all on one computer. Thanks again.

Answer
Hi Michelle,

8 unfortunately wont run well on Vista either. Unless you are doing professional end photo retouching and compositions, I would recommend Photoshop Elements. It has many of the "fun" features from Photoshop (filters, editing, etc.) and is much less expensive than full versions.

Thanks

Kevin
