QUESTION: Hello,

I have question, I need create a simple thing: create my logo for web template.  The thing is just to replace top left logo with my own. I already have logo.

The logo on this templateis 435 x 42 pix, so I need create new image with this size, then paste my logo at the left side, then make 'vertical bar' character, then add few word text. How to make this gray 'vertical bar' character in logo? I use Photoshop 7.

ANSWER: What I undertsand from your question is that you want to change the color of an object or some words in a logo.

anycase; just select (M) that character or object and fill your foreground pallete color by pressing ALT + Backspace from keyboard.

QUESTION: Hello,

I decided create this logo from scratch. All is clear, except how to create "vertical bar" symbol (|), which separet logo elements. It have 25px heigh. I tried use Single Column Marquee Tool: this creates one pixel wide and all image high column selection. But I need only 25px height, not all column. I tried also Line tool to draw vertical line (shift + left click), then Stroke or Fill. But this way I also can draw bar height only approximately(manually). Is there correct way?

Hey Alex,

To draw an exact bar of color, the easiest way to use Rectangular Marquee (M) tool,

Press F8 from keyboard and you will get Info of the canvas, here you see you selection's X, Y coordinates and the height and you can see the width of the selection as well while you draw a selection, just be careful over the measurement unit scale that it should be set in pixels (use command Ctrl+K for Unit ruler setting).

Now you can draw the exact length and width of 25px with marquee while keeping and eye over the info width height.
