Subject: pen tool

Question
My photoshop cs has a problem with the pen tool, everytime i try to outline a photo or image the lines created get filled in with color even though i dont close the lines and i dont know if this is a problem too but when try to use a layer i create i'm always directed to a new shape layer insead of the normal layer i wanted to use before.

Answer
Hi Crystal,

You have the pen tool selected as a shape layer. Look at the top option bar when you have the pen tool selected. There are three buttons to the top right of the bar. The first is what is selected, shape layer. You want to use the second button "paths".

Thats it!

Thanks

Kevin
