Question
Kevin.
I am using photoshop CS 8.0, OS 10.4.11, Imac 2Ghz intel core 2 duo.

I want to insert a photo into a photo but I can't find any advice as to how to do it.  We had a family photo taken but I want to add a family member who was not there.

Thanks for your help,

Ron

Answer
Hi Ron,

You are going to create a composite using layers. First make sure you have both docs open and the windows situated so that you can see them both. Using a selection tool, select the family member you want to include. Then using the move tool, drag the selected family member into the other document. Make sure you drag it all the way into the new one.

This will place that person in the new document. If you need to place them behind family members, you will need to select those people (make sure you are on their layer) and then use apple-J to duplicate them onto their own layer. Then drag the layer with the family above the layer with the new person in the layers palette.

That should do it.

Thanks

Kevin
