Question
Scott, How do you set an image in photoshop to 300 dpi in Photoshop 6.0? im editing images for gallery submissions and I want to ensure that the final product going to printers is up to par. Much of my photoshop knowledge has been self taught/ trial & error. I'd asked one of my IT guys before, and they just changed the ppi setting...however, online forums seem to give conflicting direction as to the difference b/w ppi & dpi. Help!

Answer
Hi Maxine,
If you would like to change the dpi to 300. which is used for high quality prints. You can go to the menu Image>Image Size... and change the value at "Resolution" to 300 pixels/inch (dpi= dots per inch).

But that is as good as increase the image size. What i would recommend is, if you are designing something that has to be printed. Start with a new canvas with 300 dpi settings and then start designing.

Hope this helps
