Adobe Photoshop - Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0

Expert: Glen Demers - 10/27/2009

Question
My sister has "Adobe Photo shop Elements 4.0" and uses this exclusively for taking care of her kids photos.  This is the main purpose of the computer at home.  I  helped her pick out a new computer, but did not see any mention that it was going to have vista 64 bit installed.

My question is will Adobe Photo shop Elements 4.0 work in regular Vista or even windows 7 as long as its a 32 bit operating system?

I am pretty upset the computer was installed with 64bit...not many programs are compatible with that system.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Michael

Answer
Hi Michael,

The earliest version of Photoshop elements that will work on Vista 64 bit is 5, but even then there are problems. I have no idea which versions (if any) will work on windows 7.
Adobe doesn't offer an upgrade path for elements, but version 8 is only $79 after rebate and you can get older versions for less. CDW has 7 for under $30.

Hope this helps,
Glen Demers
